With the start of Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond, it was only about a bit more time until we got a tournament to cover and cover we did. With the first few days spent scrambling to make new decks and figuring out what performs the best, culminating into a spectacular frenzy of a tournament held by former Shadowverse pro player: Gengur.
The $1000 Prize Pool Gengur’s Gauntlet was a swiss tournament held on the 21st of June for 256 players, yet still ended up having over 400 entries making for a huge waitlist.
The swiss bracket of 8 rounds showcased several unique decks on the stream alongside decks already considered core in the current environment. One thing we picked up from the tour was that it was evident that, despite tour games going slightly longer, the rounds went by fast thanks to the classic 2-decks-0-bans format, and the general pace of the new game was indeed faster, akin to its predecessor.

The top 8 consisted of familiar teams and faces, with some new players joining the fray. There were a total of 7 Portalcraft (Nemesis), 4 Runecraft (Witch), 3 Forest (Elf), 1 Dragon and 1 Sword (Royal) decks in total.
The finals between いにしえのゼロ and seekingurf was a clash between Artifact Portal/Spellboost Rune and Artifact Portal/Midrange Sword, with いにしえのゼロ taking the eventual win. You can view the finals VOD here.
For future reference, here’s the table consisting of the top 8 decklists!
