The hype for Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond only keeps growing as we slowly approach the release date. With only a week between us and the worldwide release of Worlds Beyond, we at SV_Magazine took this opportunity to ask the overseas Shadowverse community’s content creators a few questions about what are they are expecting with the sequel and then some!

Question 1: Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond launches on the 17th of this month. What are your expectations for Shadowverse’s sequel? Are there any new features you’re looking forward to?

SaturnSV – Streamer (https://www.twitch.tv/saturnsv), Community manager and competitive player for Team Revelation

My initial expectations are that the archetypes will be straight forward to allow new players to easily enjoy Shadowverse [Worlds Beyond], as well as returning players.I am most excited to try out the engage mechanic in Havencraft (Bishop), I am a huge fan of amulet gameplay.

Ignideus – Streamer/YouTuber (https://www.youtube.com/ignideus), SVO Caster, Shadowverse: Evolve Ambassador

I hope they reach a much wider audience this time, especially globally. The new feature I’m most looking forward to is the better new player onboarding. The less friction between installing the game and enjoying it, the better.

Zhiff – YouTuber (https://www.youtube.com/zhiff), Tournament/Deck Analyst, Competitive Player (2019 SEAO Contenders Cup)

I am looking forward to everything lol! I want my main game to come back alive. These past 12 months of Throwback Rotation were a long wait, so I hope that they manage to do what they truly want to. Hopefully, with as few bugs as possible and a more stable server in general. I hope this big reset also helps gather more players because this game is a really good card game.

In terms of mechanics, Super Evolve is definitely the most interesting aspect (I’m calling it SOUP). SOUP will redefine the way we play Shadowverse in Worlds Beyond. It is insanely strong, especially the way the effect lingers until the future turn if the opponent fails to clear your SOUPed followers. Saving removal against SOUPed followers will be the key to the battle, and I can’t wait to watch how top players navigate the battle with it.

East – YouTuber (https://www.youtube.com/@East_ML), SVO Caster

I played the original Shadowverse for most of its lifespan and fell in love with the gameplay, characters, and themes. There is a lot of history built up with that, and while I do think that a new fresh coat of paint and some updates are great for the game, I hope that all of the history of the original is not lost. I’m optimistic this won’t happen because with some of the cards they’ve shown off, it seems like we’ll see some of our favorites return. I loved the Fortune’s Hand cards and would love to see them make a reappearance as well.

In terms of new aspects of the game, I’m really excited about the prospect of the Shadowverse Park. I think the original game was great in it’s own right, but with features like the Park, I think it is a great chance to help players build communities of friends, and people with like-minded goals interact with each other. I’m a big believer that community carries games, and this is a great step forward in that direction.

Luisthepanda – YouTuber (https://www.youtube.com/Luisthepanda), SVO Caster

What I’m most looking forward to is the hard reset on everything. The powercreep got way too crazy by the end of the original Shadowverse. With a new game, we can have a new baseline and build from there! I’m excited to see how the classes change and evolve.

Question 2: Is your favorite character(s) in Worlds Beyond yet? If not, who is it that you’re looking forward to seeing and why?

SaturnSV: I really like the Runecraft leader [Kaori] so far, and of course, Eudie! I am looking forward to her “best line” suggestions in the practice mode! xd

Ignideus: No, they haven’t added Zirnitra yet. Please!

Zhiff: I hope they reprint Bloodthirsty Hamster as soon as they can because I need that emblem badly for my online persona. Honestly, I am lost if there is no Hamster, I don’t know which emblem to choose for my profile.

East: I kinda spoiled this in the first question, but my favorite set in the entire original series was Fortune’s Hand, that was themed after Tarot Cards. My favorite card from that set was Milteo, and something tells me I may have to wait a while to see them again. Although, considering the character’s popularity, hopefully it won’t be too long!

I think this might fly under the radar for players who didn’t get involved with the story, but personally, I thought that the two connected stories of Vellsar and Rivayle were awesome. They both appeared as someone’s different stories initially, but as the mysteries in each world unfolded, you realized that they were the same world in different periods. Because of this, I enjoyed the 3 tyrants from Rivayle, and Aluzard from Vellsar. While I’m not sure they will reappear, it looks like they have inspired some of the new leaders in Worlds Beyond. For example, the new Dragoncraft Leader, Galan, seems somewhat reminiscent of the Tyrant of Prosperity, Iceschillendrig’s design. This could be wishful thinking, but I’d like to hope that these characters made a lasting impact on the dev team as well.

Luisthepanda: My favorite characters in Shadowverse are Lucifer and Ladica. I don’t believe either are in yet, but I have high hopes they will be! That said, I have a lot of love for so many characters of the original game. It will be so much fun to see our beloved characters return, I look forward to it!

Question 3: Finally, any words to the community that’s forming up for the new game?

SaturnSV: I’m really looking forward to seeing old players return and, most of all, seeing new players join us in our love of Shadowverse. So yeah, let’s get this show started!

Ignideus: Be welcoming to new players because I truly think Shadowverse is the best digital card game by a mile, and I want as many people to enjoy it as possible!

Zhiff: For returning players, firstly, embrace the change. Older stuff doesn’t necessarily mean better experiences; enjoy the new things given to you. Stop being elitist, especially towards newer players. This is a whole new game, so your experience on OG Shadowverse wouldn’t help as much as you think it would. Don’t be weird on social media! Don’t make people uncomfortable in public spaces.

For the new players, start interacting with the community. Shadowverse is better with friends, and you can make them by being part of the community! Learn to gather information. In card games, preparation is half the battle; the more info you have, the advantageous you are in a game. And, finally, start sharing your knowledge with the world. Materializing your thoughts is one of the most effective things to improve your skill in card games. It helps you make logical choices by making your plays more consistent. By sharing, you also get feedback and more ideas from other players.

East: On the community side, I forged a lot of great friendships with people thanks to Shadowverse, and I hope that people who are playing [Shadowverse] Worlds Beyond for the first time are also able to do the same. Though I was involved with the competitive community of the game for most of its lifespan, and I think there is real value in this, I prioritize fun over everything else. I look forward to joining and being a part of a community that, at the end of the day, wants to make friends and have fun. Because honestly, if it’s not fun, what’s the point?

Luisthepanda: The biggest advice I can share is just to have fun with it. You never really know what is going to happen in the future, but you can make sure that you enjoy the journey. It’s natural to have high hopes and expectations for the new game, but at the same time that can also lead to disappointment. However you decide to engage with the game and the community, just remember that above all it’s supposed to be a fun hobby. Looking forward to interacting with the community on release! I promise to stream at least on the release date!

And that’s what our folks have to say about their hopes and expectations from Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond and the growing community. What are your thoughts about the upcoming and how are you looking forward to interact with the new community?
